Introducing our Interns/Campus Minister

ABBY BECK: OUTREACH DIRECTOR

What do you hope to bring to Wesley KU?

I want to bring a welcoming and inclusive presence to the community. I’ve learned a lot in the last year as I’ve strengthened my faith and I hope that I can help those that feel lost find a home in Christ.

What are your hopes for Wesley KU in the future?

I hope Wesley KU can become a community that welcomes all students and evolves around positivity. I was lucky enough to have a happy relationship with church growing up, but I know for many church is this dark, looming place that represents judgement. Wesley KU has the opportunity to give those students a community where they can feel welcomed and cherished.

An enthusiastic, loving spirit to share God’s joy and hope with the world through worship.

I hope that Wesley can be a sustainable campus ministry that works through Jesus Christ. My hope is that everyone who comes to Wesley feels included and surrounded by God’s love and that Wesley can be a place for fellowship for those who are experiencing hardship and also those who are experiencing joy.

LAUREN MUTH: COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

What do you hope to bring to Wesley KU?

I hope to provide Wesley KU with the resources to reach out to students, as well as establish, design, and preserve a strong online presence in order for the community to more closely follow our mission and work.

What are your hopes for Wesley KU in the future?

I think it’s really important that we provide a strong message of faith to those who join our campus ministry, as well as interact with and invite the community around us. We have the fortunate opportunity to be connected with the First United Methodist Church, which will provide a strong backbone as we move forward in faith.

SUSAN MERCER: CAMPUS MINISTER

What do you hope to bring to Wesley KU?

As campus minister, I walk with students on their spiritual journey and provide space for students to explore their faith and ask difficult questions. I hope I bring an example of the great joy that is found in journeying through life with Jesus Christ.

What are your hopes for Wesley KU in the future?

Wesley KU will be a place where students deepen their faith, deepen their relationship with others, and identify their individual gifts and passions. As they do, I hope students will discover how God can use those gifts and passions to change the world, understanding that they are invited and empowered to do so.
